Ankara is on a mission to bring its cultural heritage home. Since 2002, more than 13,000 pieces of stolen artifacts have been recovered from abroad. For the first time, Türkiye and Greece are engaged in a cultural exchange with Ankara supporting Greece's campaign to retrieve the Elgin Marbles from the British Museum and Greece returning a trove of ancient Lydian coins to Türkiye. Next month, a bronze statue of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius will also be officially repatriated, more than 60 years after it was smuggled.

Türkiye-Israel Relations
2 JUNE 2025

The shifting ground has forced Ankara and Tel Aviv into indirect deconfliction talks mediated by Azerbaijan. While the talks are not a step toward normalization, Turkiye's move to take control of a strategic base near Palmyra brought on an Israeli airstrike on the site days later. Since then, strikes have paused, and both sides have engaged in back-channel communication.
