Türkiye-US Relations
29 SEPTEMBER 2025
For the first time in six years, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with US President Donald Trump at the White House. His meeting centered on regional conflicts, defense cooperation, and expanding bilateral trade beyond the $100 billion mark. Trump suggested Washington could lift the ban on F-35 sales to Türkiye and roll back sanctions imposed in 2020 over Ankara’s purchase of the Russian S-400 missile system. The US president also commended Türkiye’s neutral stance on the Ukraine war while urging closer cooperation on energy.
