As the only NATO member attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Ankara is uniquely positioned to straddle two worlds. During this year's SCO summit in Tianjin, President Erdoğan reiterated Türkiye’s support for Syria’s territorial integrity and emphasized the significance of stability in the South Caucasus and Central Asia. On the sidelines of the summit, he met with China’s Xi Jinping, who urged deeper security ties and called for harmonizing the Belt and Road Initiative with Türkiye’s Middle Corridor.
