Diplomacy with Israel
30 MAY 2022

After a decade of tensions, Israel and Türkiye start a new chapter in relations with the foreign ministers meeting in West Jerusalem. While both sides agree to reenergise relations, Turkey plans for the meeting to have enough impact to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Strained Turkish-Israeli relations worsened in 2010, after Israeli forces killed ten civilians on a Turkish ship providing humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza. Relations also hit low points due to Israel’s relentless attacks on Gaza and the US’ decision to move its embassy to West Jerusalem, which caused Ankara to recall its ambassador in May 2018.

Treating the Palestinian cause completely independent of ties with Israel, Turkey stays true to its Palestine policy, continuing the work of the Turkiye-Palestine Joint Committee launched in 2010. While Palestine commits further to fulfill its obligations under international law to end the Israeli occupation, Palestine hails Turkiye's support to the Palestinian people and their cause for survival. Bilateral relations between the two countries evolve around preserving the status and sanctity of the Masjid al-Aqsa. Turkish and Palestinian ministers are set to meet on June 29-30 to discuss the bilateral economic ties.

NAKBA Explained
30 MAY 2022

Following the establishment of the State of Israel, the 1948 Arab-Israeli war broke out. As a result, 700,000 Palestinians were forced out of their homeland to other Arab nations. The event is remembered by the Arab world as the Nakba or “catastrophe”, which comprised the destruction of Palestinian society and homeland in 1948, and the permanent displacement of a majority of the Palestinian people. Nakba Day is generally commemorated on 15 May, the Gregorian calendar date of the Israeli Declaration of Independence in 1948.

Contradictory NATO bids
23 MAY 2022

Turkiye opposes Finland and Sweden's bid to join NATO, due to their ongoing support for terrorist groups. Arguing that her role in NATO as its second largest army is incumbent upon her military prowess attacked by the very terror groups Finland and Sweden shelters, Turkiye views their presumed presence in NATO as a mutually-exclusive act in relation to her 71 years of highly-effective service that collaborates to curb all WWIII plans against NATO countries that now consider admitting Finland and Sweden despite their long track record of having appeased warlords by refusing to extradite suspected PKK terrorists and placing arms embargoes on Türkiye for her counter-terror campaigns.

EU's Refugee Crisis
9 MAY 2022

In response to the 5 million refugee influx from Ukraine, the EU reactivates its 'Temporary Protection Directive', a 2001 policy developed as an exceptional measure to bypass the lengthy asylum process and provide immediate residency, jobs, and medical aid to displaced persons from the non-EU countries. The contrast between the EU's refugee policy on the Ukrainians versus the Syrians leads NATO-member Turkiye to mark the EU's inconsistency as an issue since Turkiye's 4 million refugee problem is one of the key factors that impede her decade-long fight against the ISIS terror known for targeting Christians in the West.
