Landmark Grain Deal
25 JULY 2022
After months of negotiations, a UN-brokered grain deal between Türkiye, Ukraine, and Russia allows Ukraine to resume its exports, transporting grain safely through three Ukrainian ports near Odesa, reaching world markets through the Black Sea and the Turkish Straits. Signed in Ankara, the agreement marks the first step toward easing a global food crisis that followed Russia's war on Ukraine. Türkiye is scheduled to coordinate the execution and inspection of the exports from a coordination center in Istanbul.
