Türkiye-Iraq Relations
25 MARCH 2024
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein at a high-level diplomatic visit in Baghdad attended by several top officials. The main focus was on cooperation in the fields of military, security, and counter-terrorism. The discussions led the Iraqi government to ban the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and respond positively to the proposed joint operations center, a momentous move ahead of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's expected visit next month.
